50 Cent's Family Home Set Ablaze
A fire that an official is saying is “definitely suspicious” ravaged a Long Island mansion owned by 50 Cent this morning.
According to Newsday, six people who were inside the house were sent to the hospital as a result. Eyewitnesses said one of the persons sent to the emergency centre was Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of 50’s son, Marquise, 10.
The home was purchased by the G-Unit star in 2007 and currently is at the centre of a lawsuit against 50 Cent by Tompkins. The rapper attempted to evict his child’s mother from the $1.4 million-dollar house last month unless she ponied up $4,500 a month in rent to the wealthy entertainer.
Attorneys for both parties commented only briefly or weren’t available for comment when contacted by the New York newspaper.
Police said the fire was reported at 5am Friday morning. Fire-fighters responded and the blaze caused officials to close a nearby highway.
“The fire was huge, I mean huge,” a neighbour said. “I watched the whole fire from our pool. [The house] burned down to the ground.”
The rapid movement of the flames raised suspicions among officials with the fire department.
“I would say there is a strong, a strong, strong possibility that it is suspicious,” Dix Hills Fire Department Chief Larry Feld said.

50's Ex & Son Hospitalised After House Fire
It has been confirmed that 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins and two of her children, including 50 Cent's son, were among those injured in an early morning fire this morning (May 30).
The $1.4 million dollar mansion in Dix Hills, Long Island, was burned to the ground around 5:00 am this morning, just days after a confrontation between Tompkins and 50 Cent. Six people, including Tompkins and 50 Cent’s ten-year-old son Marquise were taken to Huntington Hospital, where they were treated for complications from smoke inhalation and released.
A fire-fighter was also injured and treated for an eye injury. According to the Associated Press, Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld has deemed the blaze suspicious, because of the intensity of the fire, which lasted for almost 45 minutes.
The pair are currently involved in a court battle over the mansion, as 50 Cent is attempting to evict the woman from the residence. Tompkins claims that 50 Cent bought the mansion for her, a claim the rapper, born Curtis Jackson, disputed in court.
"To have her living there with her boyfriend and several other people is inappropriate," 50 Cent said. "She's in the house with people I'm not responsible to pay housing for."
On Monday (May 26), the pair were involved in a violent confrontation inside of Tompkins’ Manhattan attorney’s office. Tompkins' lawyer, Paul Catsandonis said an "extremely dangerous incident" took place inside of his office but did not elaborate.
50 Cent was not in New York at the time the house burned down and is currently on location in Louisiana filming a new motion picture. “Curtis Jackson expressed deep concern over this fire at his property,” a representative said in a statement. "He is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely. He is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings."
TMZ.com obtained exclusive footage of 50 Cent and Shaniqua Tompkins arguing on the street on Monday, just days before the house burned down.
Tompkins said she heard an intruder around 4:00 am, just before the inferno erupted and burned the mansion to the ground.
The dispute over the mansion will be heard again in State Supreme Court in Manhattan on June 10.

50 Cent Readies For Next Major Contract Deal
50 Cent is not yet free from his deal with Interscope, but he's already looking around for the next big score.
According to the New York Post, the G-Unit honcho wants to follow in the steps of fellow mogul Jay-Z, who, SOHH previously reported, recently struck a $150 million partnership with Live Nation.
But before 50 is free to ink a more lucrative deal, he has to turn out two more records for Interscope. The first of the two, G-Unit's T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight), is set to hit stores on July 1. Sources close to Fif say he wants that second album, a solo project, out by fourth quarter, so he can wrap up his Interscope ties by the end of the year.
Still, insiders close to the rapper's camp said that unnamed parties are already talking the mogul up. There was speculation about a major deal with MySpace, though several industry executives familiar with the situation called the idea premature.
But Fif would be a great asset for any company looking to make its way into the record business, or for a label that's ready to revamp.
Fif's portfolio includes an investment in Vitamin Water valued at $100 million, his own record label, a branded clothing line, sneakers through Reebok, fitness videos, books, video games, Hollywood movies, and most recently a memorabilia line through a deal with Steiner Sports.
Live Nation hasn't been ruled out as a bidder for 50's services, though already deeply financially committed with a major like Jay already on its payroll.
Before anybody gets their hands on 50 Cent though, Interscope has to be satisfied. Rumour has it the label has a first refusal option that could keep any other interested company off the horizon.
